Sunshine in a DIY Midi Skirt

Yellow!!! It’s my colour this summer. I can’t get enough of it.
A girl I work with was wearing a bright yellow maxi skirt which I absolutely fell in love with. I wanted one of my own but didn’t want to copy it exactly so decided to make myself a midi version.

This is the first garment I’ve made since I graduated with a degree in fashion design, five years ago. It was a bit scary getting started,  but it was a nice easy project to ease myself back in. Now I have a million ideas for things I want to make. It’s nice to find my passion again.

I got rid of all my sewing stuff when I moved to Japan but managed to borrow my gran’s sewing machine.
What I didn’t consider was all the other useful tools for making clothes. I made this skirt with no ruler, no pattern, no fabric scissors, no unpicker (would have been very handy!) and only using about 5 pins.

Next time I will be more prepared!

A quiet ride home after a hard days work.

    1. Thank you Kasia! I just checked out your blog and it is adorable! Your patio just looks gorgeous. Also, the girl that lived next door to me when I was growing up is called Kasia, such a lovely name. I hope you have a nice day 🙂
