I’ve FINALLY finished my first ever 3D model. I hadn’t intended on spending so long on it but being the perfectionist I am, I just couldn’t do a ‘rough job’.
One thing I’m trying to work on at the moment is not being such a perfectionist. Things can take painstakingly long because I just can’t let things be, if I think I can make it better. With things like drawing, I’m getting much better at being looser and quicker but I found with this project, all of my pernickety perfectionist habits came flooding back. In this case though, it was probably a good thing because I spent a lot of time using Z Brush, which is totally new to me and got to know some of the tools.
I have to say, I’m actually quite proud of my wee guy. I didn’t think I’d be able to get such a professional looking finish. Of course, I’ve only scraped the surface of 3D modelling but I don’t think I did too badly for my first attempt.
The initial concept drawing, which you might have seen in my previous post.
This character design is not my own. I followed along with a tutorial.
Next I’m going to try and make something that’s my own design.
Something a little bit more feminine I think, although I have grown to like my wee guy Gromer.
